painted this bit red. only to highlight the need to clean my engine bay. and noticed a chip on the valve cover, so that will need to be repainted black :S

Kinja'd!!!

but why? well it used to be white... but had become sadly yellow. (peep that sweet used oil collection!)

Kinja'd!!!

Installed a short shifter, and polyurethane bushings. Nothing to really show... so here’s the topside view.

Whilst underneath I observed a leaking boot on my steering, so that’s now top of the list for fixings.

Kinja'd!!!

changed my apple 30pin connector to a lightning cable. woo! wow monkey, slow down, this is TOO much fun

and installed, but not wired my gift. oughta be bright and useless.

hi. I’m aware of the added ricey nature of my weekend’s efforts.

I changed the plugs in my daily driver. I’ve only owned one other transverse V6 and in that one (a Probe GT) the back plugs were readily accessible. The same is not the case on a Duratec 3.0 in an Escape/Mariner. It’s not as bad as some but the upper intake manifold had to come off which meant the throttle body and air box had to come off. I will say it seems to run smoother now, though it certainly didn’t gain any power.

Attempted to change my shocks, immediately stripped the Allen head that’s supposed to keep the shaft from turning. Gave up because it was too cold anyway. As soon as it’s dry again (tomorrow, hopefully) the fender liner is coming off and I’m cutting the shock out.

Okay, what is that thing with the silver knobs supposed to be, where the lightning cable is? Was that the original location of the radio?

never had success with the allen on shocks. always had to resort to a powered tool to remove the nut by overpowering the allen

“this guy doesn’t know how to use the three shells!”

they knobs are holders for my phone, ipod, and/or ipad. the devices have a magnet on the rear.

How u do dis? Wouldn’t the whole thing turn then?

Kind of doesn’t matter anyway, though. I have to pull the fender liners out anyway. I stripped the first one, but before cutting it out I tried the second just to be sure I could get it done (so I didn’t get stuck with just one done) and it turns out there is NO way I can get at it from the top since there’s a brake line in the way.

I didn’t feel like pulling the liners out at that point so I just said fuck it.

Ah, that’s a pretty neat idea.

People think I’m crazy for liking Demolition Man. I’ll watch that any time it comes on, which used to be all the time on TNT for a while there.
